Presented at the Roundtable meeting on 12-18-2006.  No one would expect that a small Chicago company could compete in the world of contract manufacturing of electronic products.  But, LACE Technologies not only competes but succeeds. The major reason: LACE is a leader in the use of lead-free production methods, processes and technology. 

Lead-free manufacturing is rapidly becoming a requirement around the world for electronic products.  This is a response to the fact that such products are becoming a larger part of landfills, with the prospect of leaching hazardous chemicals into the water supply.  The deadline for manufacturing lead-free in Europe was July 2006.  California is expected to require lead-free processing in the near future as is China.
